How the election rebate program works:
The City of Winnipeg provides rebates to eligible individuals who donate to registered council candidates. The rebate amounts are calculated this way:
- For contributions between $25 and $300, the rebate is 75% of the contribution.
- For contributions between $301 and $750, the rebate is $225 plus 50% of the difference between the contribution and $300.
- The maximum contribution per person is $750.
Please note:
- Contributions must come from individuals, not businesses, corporations or unions.
- The donor must be a resident of the Province of Manitoba to contribute, but there is no age minimum.
- All contributions over $250 to a single candidate are publicly disclosed as required by law.
- Contributions of less than $25 will not receive a rebate cheque.
